Xmas

The Vanacoro (and extended family) Christmas Album!

Welcome to our annual Christmas Album site! These songs were performed by our family with a variety of friends. They all have special meaning to us, as do the friends and family that helped us make each one every year!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Our take on the timeless Carpenters' version! Our boys make an appearance in the big vocal group. Special thanks to Patrick, Holly, and Eileen Benedict for giving the song the vocal flair it needed! When Jess sings, it always sounds to me like Karen Carpenter is actually in the room.

Do You Hear What I Hear? - Our pop / classical take on this holiday classic. One of the best that I think we've recorded and arranged!

Jingle Bells - The first appearance of our boys, Parker and Davis, on our Christmas Album! The only way we could convince them to try it out was to get Grandpa to sing on it as well, so this song also has the first recorded appearance of Matt Vanacoro, Sr.!

Baby, It's Cold Outside - Featuring guest vocalists Patrick and Holly Benedict, as well as a jazz solo from Ron Burgundy.

River - Featuring Bob Gentile on the upright bass, a lovely jazzy version of the Joni Mitchell song.

Oh Christmas Tree - Also featuring Bob Gentile on the bass, our take on a classic holiday tune with a slight nod to Herbie Hancock.

Barbecue - Featuring Patrick and Holly Benedict on vocals, this song is a childhood favorite from the TV special "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas". Our lovely friend Cassandra Sotos added a wonderfully country violin solo.

Sleigh Ride - This is what happens when you have a room full of singers at Thanksgiving and nothing better to do. A magnum opus featuring Eileen, Chris, Patrick, and Holly Benedict as a massive holiday chorus. Cassandra helped us out with some fun violin sweetness on this one, too!

Frosty the Snowman - Alas, our budget never includes money for a real horn section.

Silver Bells - My dad's favorite Christmas song, re-imagined as a blues with a little homage to Chuck Berry.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Just Matt and Jess.

Run, Rudolph, Run - Featuring Chris and Lauren Benedict for the first time as a singing couple! It's sort of Soulive-ish.
